Giving

All giving, of ourselves as well as our financial resources, is in response to God’s goodness and generosity. God gives, then we respond, and we spend our lives learning and growing in our responses.

Frequently Asked Questions About Giving at HPPC

Is an “Estimate of Giving” different from a “Pledge?”

Historically, we have asked people what they planned to give to the church in the coming year using a pledge card. Some people have not filled out a card, worried that they would be unable to fulfill what they considered a set-in-stone obligation. Life happens, financial situations change, and we understand that! We want the language of our stewardship drive to reflect grace.

As we craft a new budget, it would be helpful if you give us an estimate of what you plan to give financially to HPPC in 2024. If you are unable to follow through with that amount, will we send you an invoice? Of course not! Our primary goal is to gauge how much financial support we can expect so we can make informed decisions about our next fiscal year.

When I give, what does my gift pay for?

The church is more than a business. We feel called to give generously to local and global mission work; we provide quality programs for children, youth, and adults; our Spirit-filled worship services reach around 300 people per week when you include online views. We are blessed with quality staff who serve humbly and lovingly. Of course, we also have to pay for non-glamorous things like utilities so that we can have lights and heat, office supplies, and insurance.

What is per capita? Why should I pay it?

Per capita is the amount that we pay each year, per member, to help fund work by Presbyterians locally (Presbytery of the Inland Northwest), regionally (Synod of Alaska-Northwest), and nationally/internationally (General Assembly). We are responsible to pay this amount each year (2024=$22,425). Any help offsetting this cost means more dollars to cover our operating expenses.

How do automated withdrawals work?

At a time, set by you, a specified amount is taken out of your bank account or charged to your card. You can make a one-time gift or set up contributions to be made weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually. You can make a contribution from a checking account, savings account, credit card, or debit card.

How do I set up automated withdrawals?

There are two ways to set up automated withdrawals:

  • You may set up online giving yourself at hamblenpres.org/giving, then click the GIVE NOW button. Select the fund you would like to give to and designate whether it is a one-time gift or recurring.

  • OR you may contact Heather Notske in the church office (heathern@hamblenpres.org or 509-385-0627) and she will set up an account for you.

More questions about our finances?

Feel free to reach out to Pastor Steve, Pastor Jennie, Heather Notske (Director of Operations), or Sandy Riebe (Bookkeeper). They are happy to answer any questions that they can!
